Lisbon, Portugal

With a rich history dating back to the prehistoric era, Lisbon is a treasure of museums and historical landmarks. Two of the most popular landmarks which reflect the authenticity of Lisbon's culture are Jeronimos Monastery and the Belm Tower. Built in 1500, Jeronimos Monastery is home to Vasco Da Gama's tomb. The cloisters are awesome, each column individually carved with coils of sea motifs that reflect sea exploration of that period. Restaurants throughout the cobble stone streets are lined with eateries of authentic Portuguese cuisine. Esplanadas are on every street corner in Lisbon serving croissants, the pasteis de nata is the most popular. Kiosk cafes are readily available with strong espressos and milky galao. The Bairro Alto Quarter is the epicentre of the night club scene. Featuring fashionable clubs and bars, you may run into some celebs there. Furthermore, visitors to the Portuguese capital can take advantage of fantastic credit card rewards. For example, american express India has a range of cards that could make your trip to Lisbon that extra bit special.

Berlin, Germany

This modern city of glass and steel still can't hide its architectural treasures and cultural museums. The Palace Sans Souci designed by Frederick the Great is an architectural wonder filled with fountains and statuaries. Works by Caravaggio are housed inside. Once the home of Voltaire, it also boasts Italian gardens and a Chinese Teahouse. Berlin is home to many renowned museums, but the most significant is the Judisches Museum. The holdings include antiquarian ceremonial objects from the Roman times to contemporary art. Ethnic eateries and chic European restaurants abound the streets of Berlin. Enjoy a classic delicacy of roulade and Asian die einheimischen. Berlin's nightlife is vibrant for those who enjoy a twilight foray. The western downtown area is a Mecca for jazz aficionados, while the southern district is home to chic dance clubs.

Cairo, Egypt

The keeper of the pyramids and the Egyptian Museum, Cairo is teeming with culture and ancient history. The Giza pyramids and the Sphinx are quickly reached by public transport or city taxi. Best to visit early in the day, these structures are a marvel of the wonder of the ancient Egyptians. Souvenir shops surround the pyramids, and just a little way down to Dahshur there are carpet stores with vendors demonstrating weaving techniques. The Egyptian Museum houses the finest of ancient archaeological finds including Tutankhamen's golden mask. Statues of his father, Akhenaten, are also in the museum. Dining venues are pretty diverse in Cairo, and you can eat taameya sandwiches and fuul fairly inexpensively. Koshary restaurants are prevalent in downtown Cairo, but can get crowed during tourist season. For some fun take a camel ride through the desert. You can opt for a one hour jaunt on these majestic creatures or a multi-day safari. Many of the stables at the Pyramids offer arrangements for camel rides.

Las Vegas, Nevada

If museums and architecture are secondary to an exhilarating nightlife in your list of priorities, then Las Vegas is the place to be. Known as the entertainment capital of the world, the Las Vegas strip features the most famous casinos. See legendary performers at Caesar Palace, such as Elton John and Rod Stewart. Take in a performance of Phantom of the Opera in all its opulence and drama. But there's another side to the strip, and there's something for everyone from roller coasters to museums. The Bellagio Gallery of Fine Art features classical to contemporary masterpieces. Some past exhibits have included works by Andy Warhol and Monet.
